Arrival/Dismissal Procedures

Student safety is very important to us. Please review our school arrival/after-school pick-up procedures for students in grades TK-6. Your support of these guidelines will allow us to get students to class quickly and safely in the mornings, help maximize our instructional time with students, and contribute to enhanced student safety in the afternoons. We thank you for your support in following our arrival/dismissal procedures. We aim to support a calm, safe process for students arriving and leaving campus. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the principal.

Arrival Procedures:
Our school arrival procedures are in place to ensure a safe, calm start to the school day for all students. We appreciate your support in following these guidelines!

What time does school start?
School begins at 7:50 a.m. for all students. When should my child arrive at school? Students may arrive as early as 7:40 a.m. and may enter campus once the opening bell rings at 7:40 a.m. Music will play, signaling students may proceed to their classroom. School begins at 7:50 a.m. At 7:50 a.m., the music will be turned off, and students must check in the office before going to class. Students should NOT arrive before 7:40 a.m.

Where does my child go when they arrive at school?
Students may come on campus no earlier than 7:40 once the opening bell rings and morning music begins. Students may enter campus at the front of the school, through the fire lane, at the back gate that borders Pebble Creek Park, or at the stairs by the bus lane. Parents may walk their children down the fire lane but not beyond the red boundary lines. Students are to walk directly to their classroom. All playgrounds are closed before school.

Can I walk my child to their class in the morning?
With arrival being a busy time and with an open campus, we can better monitor pedestrian traffic by allowing only students and staff on campus at this time. We ask that parents say goodbye to their children at the entry points to the school or before the red line in the fire lane.

What about TK and K students?
Parents of TK and K students should go down the fire lane to drop off their children 10 minutes before class begins.
  • TK Students: TK students are to arrive through the gate next to the bike rack by the fire lane. Goodbyes are said at the gate, and students walk to their class independently and enter the room as their parents watch from the gate.
  • Kindergarten Students: Kindergarten students arrive through the double gate that leads to the kindergarten playground from the fire lane. Goodbyes are said on the grass before the blacktop, and students walk to their class independently and enter the room while their parents watch from the grass. In the fall, the gates will be closed once the rain comes due to muddy conditions. Kinder students, like the TK students, will arrive through the gate next to the bike rack. Goodbyes are said at the gate, and students walk to their class independently as parents watch from the fire lane.

What should my child do when they arrive in class between 7:40-7:50 a.m.?
Upon entering the classroom, students will report to their assigned seats and follow the teacher's guidelines, including hand washing and organizing materials.

Are parents permitted on campus before school begins?
Unfortunately, parents are not permitted on campus upon arrival. Exceptions may occur, but they are handled individually by working with the principal. Any approved visitor will check in the office and be issued a visitor badge that must be visible to others on campus. When leaving campus, visitors also will need to check out and return the badge to the office. Badges not returned may jeopardize visiting campus on future days.

What if I need to talk with my child’s teacher really quickly before school?
As teachers' primary responsibility at this time is to supervise students, they are not available to speak with parents. Teachers are available before student arrival by appointment and can meet parents in the office when a time has been prearranged. Urgent communication with the teacher can be given in the office or through email.

What if my child arrives after 7:50 a.m.?
Parents and students should come to the front office to check-in. Young students will be walked to the classroom by staff. Older students will be given a pass and directed to report to their classroom.

Dismissal Procedures:

Once school is dismissed, everyone is expected to use the sidewalks, walk, and use conversational voices. School business occurs on the campus after dismissal, so we ask that families use Pebble Creek Park for extended playtime for students conveniently located next to our campus. Pets are not permitted on campus.

Dismissal Do’s:
  • Use crosswalks
  • Wait for the crossing guard
  • Be cautious of and yield to our crossing guards

Dismissal Don’ts:

On minimum days, pick-up time is 12:10 a.m. Younger siblings must be near the adult they are with and are not permitted to play while waiting. Parents picking up their children after school must wait in one of the three designated areas. Parents arriving before the bell at 2:20 p.m. may stay in one of our three PARENT WAITING ZONES. They are in front of the Multipurpose room, in the fire lane by the Kindergarten playground, or at the back gate by the basketball courts.

After school, students are to go home to play before meeting friends in the park unless supervised by a parent/guardian.

Bikes:
